Hi,
I am having autopilot problems and would like to start at the beginning.

I have the Digiflight II with v2.2 loaded, this is connected to a Garmin 150XL panel mounted GPS.

My connection from the GPS is using pin 24 which is the RS232 Out 1. This is going to Pin 17 on the Autopilot.

There is no recognition on the A/P of the GPS.

Have I used the correct connecting pins?

First, make sure the GPS is set up to output the correct data format. On the 150XL, the serial output needs to be set to Plotting. Make sure the AP baud rate is set to 9600. This should take care of it. You'll know it works if you see a flashing asterisk in the top left of the AP display. Thanks!

Thanks Lucas,

I have changed the I/O Channel 1 from "off" to "aviation" (the only 2 options) and the A/P is now recognising the GPS with the asterisk flashing.

I will check the system next weekend when I am flying again.

Regards

Alan :)

Thanks Lucas,

Tested the equipment this afternoon and all is in order, works great.

I had to configure the GPS I/O channel 1 from "off" to "aviation" and immediately afterwards got the asterisk going. (Just had to read the installation manual is all)

Thanks for the help

Alan

Hi Lucas,

My GPS/AP connection is ok and the AP will fly a track from the GPS and will also fly a dialled in heading.

My ALT HOLD though is a somewhat erratic.

I have disconnected the AP static from the A/C static and now using cabin air as static. With the static lag set to 0 the A/C has a 2000ft oscillation ie up and down . With the static lag set to 2 there is a 600ft oscillation.

The oscillation is dead ahead on course as the AP holds track during this oscillation.

Any ideas??

Alan,

What type of aircraft? What is your vertical torque set to? What is your vertical activity set to? Thanks!

Hi Lucas,

My aircraft is a RV7A and both mentioned settings are at the defaults at the moment.

Increase your vertical activity up to 3 or 4. Default should be 2. Thanks!
