Default Calibration Problem

Just finished installing ADI Pilot II. Initiated the calibration procedure and quickly ran in to an issue.

I am using a std AP servo installation for RV6 with SteinAir, Garmin 196 Harness. GPS not connected. Dimmer wire option and AP disconnect to stick-switch not installed.

With external Power on, got three flashing "---". After 7 secs, "---" stopped flashing and remained constant.

I pushed in & held lower right knob for 5 secs. After which the solid "---" changed to flashing "-/-/-".

Turning the lower right hand knob had no affect. Pushing the lower right hand knob again caused the flashing "-/-/-" to change to " 0 " and the green "NAV" light came on. Turning the lower right knob changed the " 0 " to positive and negative numbers. I could hear the aleron servo "ratching". At this point I turned off the power and concluded help was in order.

Any suggestions where to start trouble shooting?

Hi Mark,

Actually, everything you posted is exactly as it should be. The flashing dashes at startup let you know it's powering up. Because you don't have the GPS connected, you will not see "OFF" in the window. Holding the knob in with the AP disengaged will perform a manual gyro set, indicated by the flahsing -|-|-. Pressing the knob quickly and releasing is what engages the AP. That's the "0" you saw. Because it has no GPS signal, it goes into its bank angle backup mode. So the positive and negative numbers you saw are degrees of bank right (+) or left (-). I hope this helps.
