Default Altrak out of trim error

The Altrak installed in my RV-9A gets out of trim error (flashing green light) soon it is engaged. I have trimmed and re-trimmed the aircraft (and was able to hold altitude), yet this error remain. Any suggestion or help?

You'll probably need an extra hand for this test, but it'll let us know where the problem is. With the system engaged and controls in neutral, check the voltage on pin number 5 of the Altrak (you can also check this at pin 7 of the servo). It should be at or very near 2.5V. If it's not, then have someone put pressure on the elevator in alternating directions. The voltage should change correspondingly. If it doesn't move at all, we'll need to see the servo back for recalibration.

Also, check the connector and make sure there are no shorts with the adjacent wires. The LED lamp feed is right next to it and could bleed it's 5V over if there's a short, which would cause the trim indicator to constantly flash. Thanks!

I am having the same issue however my unit was installed over a year ago and was running fine until recently. Now the unit works for a short period, then errors out. I try to re-engage, and even have power cycled the unit, but it won't get past the error.

Do you have the Altrak or Altrak VS? I made the assumption that the OP has an Altrak VS, which indicates trim. The base Altrak does not indicate trim. The flashing indicates it is off it's captured altitude.

Does your light flash at the same speed constantly? Does the unit hold altitude at all? If it just constantly flashes and will not engage, check to make sure the power connection is good and not fluctuating when the servo is engaged.

Mine is just an Altrack. It will engage for a short time, then disengage with the light flashing fast. I will try to re-engage and it won't. The light will just flash, even if I cycle the power. However, this is not on every flight. The power is checked good. I was wondering if the servo was possibly out of calibration or something.

The non-trim sensing servos used with the Altrak (non-VS) don't have a calibration. If you've checked for any shorts in the wiring harness and the connections are solid, you'll need to send us the Altrak so we can take a look at it. PM me your contact info including phone number and email address and I'll give you an RMA number. Thanks!
